News - St. Gerard's Junior School Choir
St. Gerard's Junior School choir had the privilege of performing
in the National Concert Hall in "The Magic of Christmas", on
Wednesday, December November 30, 2005. It is a great honour
to sing in such a prestigious venue. The last time our Junior
School performed in the National Concert Hall was for the AIJS
Millenium Concert in 2000. Naturally nerves were high on the
night but everyone performed superbly.
"The Magic of Christmas" was produced by Jim Molloy Promotions and comprised Christmas favourites sung by well-known tenor and soprano - Paul Linahan and Kathryn Smith. Our Junior and Senior Infants and Standards 1, 2 and 3 performed "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "Rudolph" while Standards 4, 5 and 6 performed "Winter Wonderland", "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Frosty the Snowman". Jessica Hodgins from Standard 6 also performed a wonderful rendition of "Santa Baby" and was accompanied by the St. Gerard's dancers.
Finally, the choir took to the stage again and joined the entire company for a finale of well-known Christmas carols.
Our thanks go to Ms. Jackie Olohan, our Junior School Music teacher who was the Musical Director for the whole show and who also performed a number of songs herself.! Well done Ms. Olohan. And our thanks also to Ms. Annette Hynes who choreographed our show.
