Welcome to St. Gerard's Senior School Website

On behalf of the St. Gerard’s School Community, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our new website.

Ba mhaith liom fáilte Uí Cheallaigh a chur roimh gach duine chuig Coláiste Ghearóid Naofa. Tá súil agam go mbainfidh sibh sult agus tairbhe as ár suíomh idir líne.

Here at St. Gerard’s School, whilst we celebrate and value our distinguished history our pedagogical approach does not live in the past. St. Gerard’s is a vibrant, forward-looking school with a local, national and international role and influence.

Mr. Tom Geraghty
(Headmaster)

Parents select St. Gerard’s School for their children because our educational aims are based in combining academic excellence with an outstanding range of opportunities and a varied extra-curricular programme.

The professionalism and enthusiasm of my colleagues are clearly evident, both in the classroom and in the extensive programme of extra-curricular activities. The continued success of St. Gerard’s academic, sporting and extra curricular programmes are testimony to their commitment and dedication. In St. Gerard’s School we encourage pupils to give of their best in whatever they do in the pursuit of excellence both in and out of the classroom.

St. Gerard’s has always cherished the family atmosphere of the school and encouraged parents to be involved in the education of their children as far as it is practical for them to be. The pursuit of our educational objectives is all-inclusive and the contribution made by parents is far-reaching. The formation of the Parents’ Association in October 2005 has been a most welcome addition to the school structure under the chairmanship of Mr. Paul Farrar.

November 2005 saw the opening our new state of the art Junior School. We have extended and fully refurbished our Sports Hall for September 2006. The Senior School will undergo a major rebuilding programme commencing in August 2006 with an Autumn 2007 completion date and the main school house will re-open in Spring 2006 fully refurbished.

We have completed a major development of our Sports facilities including the opening of two all weather floodlit pitches in May 2006. We will continue to invest in our Sports infrastructure moving forward. We look forward to the continued investment in our Sports infrastructure moving forward
In St. Gerard’s we place great value on the sense of community that prevails in the school. We believe in continuous encouragement of the sense of responsibility and development of tolerance through living in a happy environment. The open relationship between staff, pupils and parents is clearly evident. Lifelong friendships are created in the school and while pupils and staff may leave the school, the spirit of St. Gerard’s will remain with them forever.

Here in St. Gerard’s we have inherited a culture and a tradition based on the provision of excellence in all areas of life, including spiritual, intellectual and recreational. Both the cultural and the traditional are vibrantly alive and we look forward to the future with confidence.

Beir Bua agus Beannacht.
