Model
United Nations 2008 (4th April 2008)
Many

St. Gerard’s School at the St. Andrew’s International
Model United Nations General Assembly during the Easter holidays:
Ben
Blunnie, Daniel Cooney, Theo Jebb
Fiona Kelly, Sarah Kate Fenelon, David Mulrooney
Karl Brennan.
The
team worked very hard and performed excellently. All students
were outstanding during the event both as individual members
and as team members at the General Assembly.
A
special note of congratulations to Daniel Cooney who was awarded
an Outstanding Delegate Award and to Dearbhail O’Crowley
who was awarded the much sought after position of Deputy Chair
of the ‘Political 2’ Committee and who also acted
as a Chairperson and Adjudicator during the event. Dearbhail
had previously won Outstanding Delegate Awards at two previous
Model United Nations.
Many
thanks as always to Ms. Jennifer Halford who facilitated this
wonderful opportunity for the students.
FOSTER CUP
SEMI FINAL (7th April 2008)
St.
Gerard’s School 12 - CBC Monkstown 13
Sincere
commiserations to the excellent Senior 2nd Rugby Team on an
unmerited defeat to CBC Monkstown in the Semi Final of the
Foster Cup.
The
game was a wonderful exhibition and the St. Gerard’s
team showed great spirit from start to end, highlighted by
a most courageous 2nd half try by Wesley Wojnar.
Congratulations
are due to this Squad for the work they have done throughout
the season and for progressing so well in the competition.
We are most proud of your efforts and the Squad owe a great
debt of gratitude to Mr. Seamus Jennings and Mr. Damian Hall
for the amount of work which they did with the Squad.
Also
a sincere note of thanks to all of the 6th Years in the Squad
who unselfishly gave of their time throughout the season and
for them it was their last game.
Well
done to all involved.

The Irish Pony
Club Hunter Trial Championships (8th April 2008)
The
Bray Pony Club team of David Bourke, Miriam Bourke and Fiona
Kelly came 2nd in the Irish Pony Club Championships last weekend.
Teams
from all over Ireland competed and they were just pipped at
the post by the team from the Ward Union.
This
was a huge achievement in a competition where over half the
teams were eliminated over a very difficult technical course
in very wet conditions.
Well
done to all three and all their horses!
YOUNG
SOCIAL INNOVATORS (10th April 2008)
The
Young Social Innovators group of:
CLAIRE
CULLEN
SORCHA BARDY
AMY DEIGNAN
have
been selected to showcase their project in the RDA on 7th
and 8th May 2008. This is a great achievement as not all project
entries are selected. Their project examines hospice facilities
in Ireland for children.
The
girls held a Golf Tournament on 14th March in Powerscourt
Golf Club which was a great success. They raised €14,000
approximately which was donated to the Make
A-Wish
Foundation. This was a great success for their Mini Company.
We
wish them every success in the future.
Model European
