Monthly News - December 2005

Irish Under 19 Schoolboy v Australian School Boys Team
Many congratulations to Burschi Wojnar – 6th Year – who has been selected on the Irish Under 19 Schoolboys Panel for the International School Game against Australia Schools this Saturday December 17th in Donnybrook.

This is another great honour for the school and one which I know you will go and support on Saturday.

Well done.

Christmas Bazaar
A very sincere thank you to everyone who participated in any way in the success that was this year’s Christmas Bazaar. The atmosphere in the school on Friday and again throughout Sunday was memorable as was the co-operation and collegiality among the students, staff and parents. In a most memorable week in the school in excess of €27,000 was raised for Charity between the Fashion Show and the Christmas Bazaar.

While there is no doubting the success of these two events, I put the challenge out to the whole school to seek ways in which the whole school can contribute even more to the very laudable and needy charities in run up to Christmas next year. The challenge I put down to the current 1st to 5th Year students is to create a new record for charity next year.

Again, well done to all concerned. A particular thank you to Ms. Joan Dobbyn who through her hard work and enthusiasm, co-ordinated all aspects of the Bazaar.

The Fashion Show
The Transition Year Mini Company Fashion Show took place on Wednesday December 7th and was an outstanding success. Many thanks to the models, the MCs, backstage crew, parents, staff and all who contributed most handsomely to the event. A particular word of thanks to Etaoin Donovan, Candice Pearse and Sophie Kruseman for the energy and enthusiasm that they brought to the event.

Almost €14,000 was raised at the fashion show and that money will be distributed to three different charities – Christina Noble Foundation, ISPCC and the ISPCA.

This event has set new standards for all others to follow.

Well done.
