The report was written following a subject inspection at Saint Gerard’s School. It outlines the results of the assessment of the standard of teaching and learning in Irish and makes recommendations for the development of instruction in this subject in the school. This assessment was made over a period of two days during which the inspector visited classrooms and observed instruction and learning.

IRISH GOLF OPEN PRO-AM (21st May 2007)

Congratulations to Michael Magee who played in the Pro-Am Tournament in Adare at the weekend. He played with the Spanish Professional A. Romero and his team short an excellent two under par round.

TENNIS NEWS

GIRLS’ TENNIS (22nd May 2007)

Well done to the Senior A Girls Tennis Teams who reached the Leinster Schoolgirls Tennis Semi Final. The team played extremely well but, unfortunately, were defeated by a very good Mount Anville side, consisting of two international players. This particular Mount Anville side has won Division 1 on numerous occasions and our success in the tournament is a great achievement.

The team members are: Alexandra Pickerill, Aoibhean Gleeson, Sinead Duffy (Captain), Aoife Ni Cuilleanain and Sophie Pigot.

BOYS MINOR TENNIS (24th May 2007)

Congratulations and well done to the Boys Minor Tennis team on winning the Leinster Schoolboys’ Minor Division 2 Trophy.

The team consisted of Alan Gleeson, Nick O’Loughlin, Nial McLaughlin, Sam Gilmore/Dylan Simmonds (Captain) Ger Cunningham/Rufus O’Brien and substitute Hugh Delaney.

BOYS JUNIOR TENNIS (25th May 2007)

Well done and congratulations to the Junior Boys Tennis Team on winning the Leinster Schoolboys’ Junior Division 2 Trophy.

The team consisted of Alan Gleeson, Cian Cafferky, Jonathan Towers, Rian O’Loughlin, Adam Bowtell, Colin O’Meara and Charlie Sherry.
