JCT WIN FATHER GODFREY CUP FINAL (6th March 2008)

St. Gerard’s 39 - Wesley College 3

A wonderful win for a most deserving group of players. The team played some magical rugby and the school are most proud of our first win of the Father Godfrey Cup.

Many thanks to Shaun McCarthy, Jason Emery, Victor Drummy and Paul Crosbie on their excellent coaching of the team.

The JCT play Kilkenny College on Wednesday in the ¼ Final of the Plate and we wish them well.

SENIOR CUP TEAM SEMI FINAL OF THE VINNIE MURRAY CUP (6th March 2008)

St. Gerard’s 17 - Roscrea 29

The Senior Cup Team put a tremendous performance against a very strong Roscrea side in the semi final of the Vinnie Murray Cup last Thursday. Indeed for long periods of the game, they were leading or drawing the match.

The SCT now have the quarter of the Senior Cup Plate against De La Salle to look forward to this week and we wish them every success in this game.

Senior II Rugby Team (6th March 2008)

St. Gerard’s School 40 - Newbridge College 8

Congratulations to the Senior 2nds Rugby Team on qualifying for the semi final of the Foster Cup which will be played later this week.

This was another most positive performance from the team and we look forward with great confidence to their semi final.

SCT QUARTER FINAL OF THE SENIOR PLATE (6th March 2008)

Well done to the SCT on this fine emphatic victory and we look forward to the semi final.

SENIOR 2NDS (6th March 2008)

St. Gerard’s 40 - Newbridge College 7

Congratulations to the Senior 2nds on their excellent win against Newbridge College in Newbridge. Probably their best display to date.

We look forward to their semi final next week. Well done to all involved.

2ND YEAR PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION (5th March 2008)

Many congratulations to all the students in 2nd Year who participated in the Public Speaking Competition last week.

Alan Gleeson, Monserrat Cornejo and Alannah O Caoimh

A special word of thanks to all of the English teachers who organised the event and for facilitating the opportunity for the students.


ESB All Ireland Debating Competition (5th March 2008)

Congratulations to Dearbhail O’Crowley (6th Year) who has reached the finals of the ESB All Ireland Debating Competition as an individual speaker.

The ESB Debating Finals are a wonderful opportunity for students interested in debating to attend the event and witness their peers from a variety of schools debating.

I strongly encourage as many students as possible to attend and support Dearbhail in the Final on WEDNESDAY MARCH 12TH in UCD at 6.30 p.m.


1st Year Glaciation Project (6th March 2008)

A sincere well done to all of the students who participated in the Glaciation Project in 1st Year.

We are truly impressed with the quality of the work done on the project work by each and every one of the students. Their knowledge of the topic and the interest they showed in their projects is most commendable.

A special word of congratulations to all of the students who, as part of the team project, made the various exhibits which were all excellent and took much work on their completion

A special work of thanks to Ms. Cusack for her work in encouraging the students to participate in the project.


Inter-Schools Show Jumping League Sunday 9th March - Hosted by Colaiste Bríd, Carnew at Marlton Stud, Wicklow (12th March 2008)

Congratulations and well done to Alicia Devlin-Byrne who came 3rd in the individual competition beaten only by the students currently ranked 1 & 2 in the Schools League - a fantastic result

Team 1: Kim Mulcahy, Miriam Bourke, Jessica Crosse and Emily Murphy came 5th in the Team Event.

Team 2: David Bourke, Hayley Mulcahy, Max O’Reilly-Hyland came 9th in the team event

Well done to all involved.


St. Gerard’s School In House Art Exhibition (12th March 2008)

Many congratulations to the In House Committee for organising a wonderful Art Exhibition last weekend.

Many thanks to all of the students who entered the competition and whose work was on eminent display.

A special word of congratulations to Sarah Kate Fenelon (4th Year) and Hugh Delaney (2nd Year) on winning the Senior School Section of the Art Competition.

Congratulations also the other winners and runners-up, David Baker, Mia Nunes, Sean Geoghegan, Dillon Kavanagh, Alicia Devlin-Byrne, Hilary Repko, Molly Judd and Andrew Hozier-Byrne on their exhibits.

Many thanks as always to Ms. Katie Magee and Mr. Rory O’Connor for encouraging the students of Art to participate.

We look forward to displaying the students art work during the final term.
