UCD ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP (05/11/2007)

Many congratulations to Shane Smith of the Class of 2007 who has been awarded a UCD Entrance Scholarship.

This award reflects most positively on the academic programme here in the school.

SCT Rugby Tour to England (05/11/2007)

Congratulations to the Senior 1st and Senior 2nd Rugby Squads on their excellent Mid Term Tour to England.

On Wednesday 31st October both the 1st and 2nd teams played The Oratory School. While both sides were defeated (Senior 1sts 21 – Oratory 28 and Senior 2nds 12 - Oratory 2nds 31) they did, however, perform to their best this season to date and contributed greatly to two excellent games.

On Friday November 2nd, both teams played London Irish Under 18’s 1st and 2nd teams. In two thrilling games the Senior 1st Team lost 0 – 17 while the 2nds Team won 5-3 in a very tight game. London Irish were by far the best opposition faced this year.

As always with any tour, a special word of gratitude to Mr. Mícheál McMullan, Mr. Joe McDonnell, Mr. Damien Hall, Mr. Seamus Jennings and Mr. Shaun McCarthy for accompanying the team. It is only with such commitment and giving by staff that such opportunities are available to the students.

The feedback on the Senior Rugby Squads behaviour and positive attitude is a credit to the whole group and in particular to the leaders under Senior Rugby Captain, Gareth Crotty.

Well done to all involved.

CROSS COUNTRY (21st Nov 2007)

Many congratulations to all of the students who participated in the County Wicklow Cross Country Schools Championships and in the Leinster Schools Championships on Friday last. It is a tremendous reflection on the growth of the sport in the school, the enthusiasm and the large number of students – boys and girls from each year group – that were involved.

Well done to all involved and a particular word of thanks to Ciara Broe and Sarah Scott for facilitating the opportunity.
