St.
Gerard’s Day 2009
St.
Gerard’s Day was a unique occasion for St. Gerard’s
School as we blessed our new senior school and refurbished
school chapel.
The
school is privileged that Most Reverend Bishop Eamon Walsh
celebrated our St. Gerard’s Day Mass with us. Bishop
Eamon is a former Chaplain and teacher in the school and was
delighted to share the occasion with us.
Bishop
Walsh based much of his sermon on the words of the First Reading
from the Book of Jeremiah.
“I
have plans in my heart for you; plans for peace not disaster;
plans to give you a future and a reason of hope.”
I
thank all of the students and staff of the school for making
St. Gerard’s Day such a special day. It is heart-warming
to see so many of the school community participating in the
Sugarloaf- Run and at liturgy together as a whole school community,
for the St. Gerard’s Day Mass.
It
is such occasions that testify to the spirit of joy that is
within the school.
