SUMMER
EQUESTRIAN SUCCESSES

Max O’Reilly-Hyland
This
year Kim Mulcahy (6TH year) became eligible
to compete at Amateur Level show jumping in Ireland. In the
Belivor qualification event, Kim and her horse Starlight Lucy
put in an incredible performance, coming in 1st place of 200
competitors, and qualified for the National Championships
in the RDS in August. Competing in the RDS as the youngest
of the top 36 Amateur show jumpers in Ireland, Kim and Starlight
Lucy managed to put in another great performance attaining
3rd position in the first day competition. This position also
qualified her to jump in the Final of the National Championships
in the RDS International Arena which only the top 12 qualified
for. Kim had an incredible experience and finished 10th overall.
Alicia
Devlin-Byrne (4th Year) competed at several shows
over the summer on her Connemara pony “Blackwood Fernando”
and achieved the following fantastic results:
Winner
of the Northern Ireland Festival working hunter championship,
winner of the Champion Conemara working hunter
championship at the R.D.S., 2nd in the ridden Connemara class
at the RDS and winner of the All-Ireland
Connemara performance championship final in Galway. She also
rode “Amadeus” to 2nd in the Clifden Connemara
stallion working hunter championship and had a 3rd in the
RDS ridden Connemara class for ponies of 4 or 5 on “Moorland
Bright Star”.
Max
O’Reilly-Hyland (2nd Year) represented IRELAND
in the home countries Junior show jumping championship which
was held in Chepstow, Wales in July. The Irish team won the
GOLD MEDAL with Max and his 13.2 pony “Castleview
Max”, making a huge contribution by jumping clear in
both his rounds. Max also won the Cavan Grand Prix in May,
the Barnadown Grand Prix in June and qualified for the Dublin
Horse show, Belfast International Horse show and the Cavan
Tansan League.
Well
done also to all our other Equestrians who over the summer
competed in various shows around the country.
WORLD
MARTIAL ARTS CHAMPIONSHIPS (28th August 2008)
Daniel
Morgan of 3rd year will be competing in the World Martial
Arts Championships from September 22nd to 28th in Naples.
This is a wonderful opportunity and privilege for Daniel and
we wish him every success.
LEINSTER
SCHOOLS UNDER 19’S (2nd September 2008)
Many
congratulations to our SCT Captain, Jordan Egan, who has been
selected for the Leinster Schools Under 19 Squad.
Congratulations
to Stephen Toal-Lennon of 5th Year who has been selected for
the Leinster Schools Under 19 Squad for the forthcoming Inter
Provincial Campaign. We wish him every success over the coming
weeks.

ROYAL
IRISH ACADEMY OF MUSIC/ PERMANENT TSB HIGH ACHIEVER AWARDS

congratulations to David Mulrooney (5TH Year) on receiving
a High Achiever Award for Outstanding Performance based on
his Communication Exams.

SCHOOL HOCKEY U-18 (22nd September 2008)
Many
congratulations to Maedhbh Delahunt and Katie Burgess on their
selection on the Leinster Schools B hockey squad for the forthcoming
season.
We
wish the girls every success in the forthcoming fixtures.
LEINSTER
SCHOOLS U-16 HOCKEY PANEL (23rd September 2008)
Congratualations
to Susie Kenna (3rd Year) on being selected as a goalkeeper
on the Leinster U-16 hockey training panel.
NATIONAL
SURF RESCUE COMPETITION (23rd September 2008)
Well
done to Claire Lavelle who won two Gold, three Silver and
one Bronze medals at the national Surf Rescue Competition
over last weekend. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement.
SENIOR
SAILING TEAM (23rd September 2008)
Many
congratulations to the Senior Sailing Team of Jill Roy, Ronan
McGovern, Ian Byrne and Avril Cannon who came 3rd at the All
Ireland Schools Sailing Championships at the weekend in Sutton.
The
Senior 2nd Sailing Team consisting of Chris Cantwell, Richard
Meeke and Oisin O’Neill came 4th. Having won the All
Ireland School Championships last year, this was another tremendous
performance.
