Gaisce - The Presidents Award

The President’s Award is a three-tiered personal development programme for young people aged 15 – 25.

Students are given the opportunity to challenge for the Bronze Medal Gaisce/The President`s Award. The Bronze Medal takes a minimum of 26 weeks. If all requirements of the challenge are completed by pupils they will receive a medal and certificate from the Gaisce Award Scheme and are then entitled to pursue the Silver or gold medals in the future. This takes place all year. There are four areas of involvement:

• Community Involvement: 1 hour per week over 13 weeks
• Personal Skill: 1 hour per week over 13 weeks
• Physical Recreation: 1 hour per week over 13 weeks
• One of the above for an extra 13 weeks
• Adventure Activity: Plan, prepare and undertake a 2 days/ 1 night Adventure Journey. (the camping trip and hike (22km) fulfils this requirement)
