Cross Country commences in the first two terms, once a week. It is open to all, regardless of their age, previous experience or ability and is compulsory for first and second year girls. Pupils can participate across a range of training sessions from fartlek, tempo runs, interval training and hill runs, enjoying dedicated coaching and tailored training to help each individual reach his or her potential. Participants range from the casual runner keen to improve fitness, through to athletes of county and national standard. Despite the natural individual element, cross country enjoys a very strong team spirit and employs this ethos to good effect. St Gerard's School has a long tradition of sporting excellence with all Ireland medalists over the years and several of whom have gone on to represent their country.
Our experienced coaching staff offers first-hand cross country expertise, ensuring that all pupils have the best possible coaching and conditioning to allow achieve and surpass their sporting goals.
