Each year we offer a number of overseas students the opportunity to study in St. Gerard’s. In line with our mission statement, 'to enable each young person to realise their full potential as a unique individual' , our dedicated international program ensures that every student receives the academic support and personal guidance necessary to thrive academically while building lifelong friendships across borders.
This programme is for a full Academic Year stay only, and focuses on individual growth and academic development. As we only accept a maximum of 25 International Students per year, this allows us to work closely with each student and offer a personalised and meaningful experience which may not be available in other schools.
Students also benefit from our dedicated International Student Co-ordinator, as well as our peer-led Buddy Programme.
What Students Receive
A dedicated International Student Coordinator: Our ISC ensures students’ social, personal and academic needs are met and supported, enabling students to flourish and feel secure, valued, and nurtured.
Buddy Programme: All International students are looked after by several Irish peers to ensure they integrate into their respective Year Group and the School Community as a whole. This will ensure they foster friendships and feel supported, connected and confident from day one.
Extra English lessons: These are designed to promote academic excellence and build English Language confidence in a supportive and inclusive educational environment. International students will get an additional 2 ESL lessons per week. (English as a Second Language).
Excursions: Up to six excursions per year, providing cultural immersion and learning opportunities. These tours help students to appreciate both Ireland and the world beyond the classroom, and to reinforce learning in real contexts.
Cultural Immersion: Throughout the year we host many cultural celebrations promoting an appreciation for varied traditions, faiths, and perspectives.
